Kyiv-Pechery Lavra of the Holy Dormition Monestary

Andre, catching up on his travelogue over some coffee in the second floor hotel bar

Murals along the entrance way to Pechery Lavra

One of the many masterpieces within the monestary. We were only allowed to take one photograph, so I chose the painting of the archangel Michael(?), protector of Kyiv.

The Holy Gate with the Trinity Church of the Kyiv-Pechery Lavra (12th to 18th cc). Western Facade.
To the left, lies part of the original church in the photo. The chuch was destroyed at the end of the Nazi occupation. It is controversial as to the saboteurs; was it the Nazis or Russians?
The Refectory Church of St. Nicholas of Myra
The Great Lavra Bell Tower. 96 meters high.
Dress Guidlines for entry into the indoor areas. As our site guide pointed out, "it may be more for a matter of limiting distraction, rather than a matter of respect."
Stray animals were present throughout Kiev, but a few cats have seemed to make Kyiv-Pechery Lavra their home.
The Church of our Saviour at Berestove(?).
